Before surgery                                    After surgery

One of the programs that Living Hope has done for years is bringing a few patients up from Haiti for medical treatment at Baptist Hospital of Miami.

Our latest patient is perhaps the most dramatic to date. His name is Mickerson Luceus, and he is ten years old. He had a large tumor on his face (see the before picture) and it was removed on June 12 during Baptist Hospital’s Day of Smiles (an annual program that provides facial surgery for free). He will be discharged from the hospital today, and his prognosis is excellent. The tumor was a cystic hygroma, which is the best possible tumor you can have in this situation. He has never gone to school, as the kids in Haiti had treated him poorly. So, we will find him a Creole tutor for the next month before he returns home.

Special thanks to Dr. Joe McCain and his talented team of surgeons, who worked probono on this case; Martha Pearson, who helped bring Mickerson to the US, Dr Pamela Larcada for the pre-op checkup, and Aly Kendon who did the anesthesia without charge on Mickerson. Lastly, we thank Baptist Hospital and the Lord for providing this incredible blessing in Mickerson’s life. Your support of Living Hope allows us to conduct programs like this, and we appreciate it!

Thanks!

Blessings,

Calvin

P.S. The cost of bringing Mickerson and his aunt to the US and supporting them while here is expected to be around $4,000.00. If you would like to contribute towards these costs, please feel free to do so. Thanks again.
