Living Hope Haiti July Update

11 Jul 2011

Living Hope Haiti's President, Rev Dr Gueillant Dorcinvil, has spent the month of July in Haiti with his family for the past several years.   However, to support his family, he has taken a job as a Chaplain at Baptist Health South Florida, so his ability to spend as much time in Haiti will be limited for a while.   Here is his the report from his latest trip to Haiti:

Over the weekend I found that tiredness and gratification can be mutually inclusive. For the Fourth of July weekend I went to St Michel to visit and prepare for our 2011- 2012 school year. We had our parents' meeting Saturday in Camathe and Sunday we had a meeting in Lacide and in L'Attalaye.

We also made some needed decisions such as we let our High School principal go because he missed too many days this year due to the many hats he wanted to wear at the same time. It was a long two days with no time to rest. On the other hand, it was also a gratifying two days. This is for many reasons.

First of all, our children at the orphanage looked fantastic. They were very joyful. I played with them and spent some time eating with them. I looked at the kids and I said:  what a great difference!

I was glad to see that the church building in Camathe is close to being completed. I was glad to bless our first Twelfth grade students before they went to their official State exams.  This is a great milestone in Living Hope’s history. A place that did not have any school, in less than 10 years has its first high school graduates! We are pleased to announce to you next month will be the graduation of our second promotion from our Technical school. In our meeting last Sunday, we planned to add more skill classes to our Technical school.

Let me conclude by saying because of your support and your prayers, more kids have learned to read, more kids have been fed everyday, more lives have saved through our medical clinics, more jobs have created, and more spiritual souls have been saved.

With God and your support, Hope for a better tomorrow has been born everyday.

To His service,
Rev Dr Gueillant Dorcinvil
President of Living Hope Haiti Christian Mission
