Orphanage
The Grand Opening of our Orphanage – The House of Hope
Greetings friends and supporters of Living Hope Haiti Christian Mission. I just came back from a three day trip to attend the opening of our orphanage. I am glad to report to you that our orphanage is up and running with 16 children. Last Tuesday (Jan 4), I was privileged to welcome our new children as they entered their new home. We were there all day long, with pastors and the administration staff. In a building just painted, brand new beds, with a nice welcome sign, we sang to dedicate "The House of Hope" to the Lord. We prayed that The House of Hope will be a place where each child will develop his/her spiritual, intellectual, and physical abilities as given by the Almighty. As a result, he/she will be useful to God, self, and others.
For the most part, we received our new children with no clothes or shoes. Our first action on Wednesday was to clothe them. On Wednesday we woke up early to serve our children the first breakfast at The House of Hope. I rejoice knowing that they are in good hands with a staff of four: two ladies, who will care, cook, clean, and stay with the kids. A retired deacon of 75 years who will be a male figure and the spiritual father at The House of Hope, and the administrator for our orphanage is one of the staff members. We are blessed that at the orphanage site Living Hope already has a medical clinic and an elementary school. All 16 children are already enrolled to start school.
There is no doubt it this by far the most demanding of the ministries of Living Hope Haiti Christian Mission. It is not easy to be responsible for so many kids every hour of every day. On the other hand, it may be the most rewarding of the ministries. Tuesday night, Geraldine, a 4 year old who is an orphan of both parents made my day when she stopped crying for her uncle after I put her on my shoulder and laid her on her soft bed. She smiled. In the days and months to come, there will be more smiles to report to you as they will be loved and cared for. I will not be surprised if you and I will share the smiles with them. After all, there are more blessings for those who give to the orphans than the gift itself.
Congratulations on your new 16 children!!!
