2009 Year End Update

31 Dec 2009

This has been another great year for Living Hope Haiti Christian Mission.   We praise God for the wonderful blessings he has given us this year!    We have been blessed to now have over 1400 students in our five schools, and we became a distributor for Feed My Starving Children in 2009.   Also in 2009, we opened our Vocational School, which is going very well, and Trinity High School expanded to the 11th grade.   Additionally, we continued our Seminary training, and bestowed degrees on 7 graduates.  We sponsored four surgical trips, where our Haitian patients received life changing surgeries.   We added dental services to our trips, and to our Medical Clinics, and also now have an Ultrasound machine and trained technicians to do pre-natal care (thank you Dr Park and Dr Grace!) at our Clinics.

We bought our third school bus and now run a bus service between our headquarters and St Michel.  We created a few more jobs by having our school uniform shirts manufactured in Haiti, and our economic development projects (sugar cane machines) are continuing to work well.  Our road improvement projects are moving forward, as our bulldozer and dump truck are still running!  We have also renovated our website at www.livinghopehaiti.com

As you review your end of year giving, if you are able to make a donation to Living Hope, we are happy to accept it.   I believe that we utilize donations better than most charities, and we could use the funds!   We have several capital projects that we are working on:

1.  Construction of a Church building at our headquarters complex.

2.  Start-up of our Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

3.  Bakery in Lattalaye, to be used for student training and economic development.

4.  New school building wing in Lacide.

After these projects are completed, we will reduce our capital projects in the future, and concentrate on all of our existing services.  We are working on our overhead to improve our efficiencies, specifically:   1.  Restructuring our surgical trips to make them less costly to LHHCM (airfare) and  2.  Working to make several of our programs more self- sufficient for the future.

Thank you for you prayers and support during the year.    We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Blessed New Year!
